Effect of peritonsillar prilocaine infiltration on post-tonsillectomy pain in pediatric population

Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of peritonsillar prilocaine in post-tonsillectomy pain by using Visual Analog Scale (VAS).
 Materials and Methods: A total 40 pediatric patients were included this study. There 20 group (Group 1) control 2). In Group 1, infiltration was performed. 2, saline VAS scores at postoperative 1st, 4th, 12th 24th hours on 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th 7th days evaluated. addition, presence nausea vomiting number additional doses intravenous paracetamol administered first 24 evaluated.
 Results: When groups compared, a significant reduction observed 4th compared group. no difference between two other scores. for consumption values.
 Conclusion: Peritonsillar effective postoperatively. Thus, can be used because it is fast effective.
